Hello Everyone,
Here is some information about Fr. Jon and Lucy's busman's holiday: 1. Number of friends and St. Anselm supporters visited: 13.
2. Picked up 24 books for the La Verne Goman Library dealing with the history of the ecumenical movement. 3. Sold two copies of Fr. Jon's A Few Words on the Book of Common Prayer. 4. Secured a $2500 matching donation for the first stage of the yard project. Once this grant is matched, we will have enough money to complete stage one, which is the redesigned front porch.
Greek class will meet at St. Anselm on both Tuesday, August 19 and Tuesday, August 26 from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.
The Development Committee will meet on Wednesday, August 20 at 4:00 pm.
There will be a Via Media Mountaineers hike on Saturday, August 23rd. It is simply too hot for Fr. Jon to think about objectives. Wherever we go, we will meet in the St. Anselm parking lot at 8:00 am.
The Board will meet on Tuesday, August 26, at 4:00 pm.
From Mary Arnold: First the good news! We have received 3 new pledges in support of St. Anselm in July. For the most part, pledges are coming as promised, and we continue to receive unrestricted (non-pledge) gifts. $630 has been received in memorial gifts for the La Verne Goman Library. $2000 in memorial gifts has been received for the landscape project. Now the not so good news: There is still an operating budget deficit of $29,333.13 for 2008, which is 25% of the operating budget. The budget for pledged income was $50,000 and we have only received pledges of 80% ($40,206.00). The budget for unrestricted gifts is $36,250, and we have only received 45% ($16,317.63). As we approach the end of summer, the ministry is simply out of operating cash. If we are unable to secure additional funding it will be necessary to transfer money from the reserve account to make payroll and other obligations. The reserve endowment fund has lost considerable value this year, with a current value of just over $87,000. Please consider a gift of support to St. Anselm today!
Thanks to Roger Rumming for painting the woodwork in the kitchen.
Thanks to Tim Goman for rejuvenating various defensive measures on the St. Anselm computers.
Thanks to Elin Stetz for leading Morning Prayer on Sunday, August 10.
